ABC Countdown to the Last Day of School: Letter Pp is Pajama Day

Letter Pp is Pajama Day!

Pajama Day is a delightful and cozy way to add a touch of fun and relaxation to the kindergarten routine.

I Wonder…

What is the most popular breakfast food in our class? How can we find out?

What do people eat for breakfast around the world?

Let’s Make a Pattern Pillow!

Draw the shape of a pillow. Fill it with stripes. Make patterns on each stripe of your pillow. What shapes will you use?

Stories about Pajamas

One of my favourite things to do in pajamas is read stories.

Let’s Have a Pretend Sleepover!

We can play:
  • Charades
  • Two Truths and a Lie
  • Hide and Seek
  • What Time is it Mr. Wolf?
  • Would You Rather?

Here are ten more ideas to make this day memorable:
  1. Storytime Marathon: Create a cozy reading corner with blankets and pillows. Throughout the day, read a variety of children’s books, including bedtime stories, fairy tales, and favorite picture books.
  2. Pajama Fashion Show: Have a pajama fashion show where children can strut their stuff in their favorite pajamas. Encourage them to describe their pajamas and share why they chose them.
  3. Stuffed Animal Sleepover: Invite children to bring their favorite stuffed animals to school for a “sleepover.” Set up a special area with blankets and pillows where the stuffed animals can “sleep” during the day.
  4. Pajama Party Snacks: Serve special pajama-themed snacks like popcorn, cookies, and milk or juice boxes. Create a cozy snack area where children can relax and enjoy their treats.
  5. Pajama Day Crafts: Set up craft stations with pajama-themed activities, such as decorating sleep masks, making paper pajama sets, or creating dream catchers.
  6. Pajama Dance Party: Play fun, upbeat music and let the children dance around in their pajamas. Include favorite dance songs and silly dances like the “Pajama Jam” or the “Sleepy Shuffle.”
  7. Bedtime Yoga: Lead a gentle yoga session with bedtime-themed poses like “Sleeping Butterfly,” “Cozy Cat,” and “Dreamy Dolphin.” This can help children relax and unwind while promoting flexibility and mindfulness.
  8. Pajama Parade: Organize a parade around the classroom or schoolyard where children can show off their pajamas. Encourage them to walk, skip, or twirl as they parade around.
  9. Pajama Puppet Show: Have children create simple puppets using socks or paper bags and then put on a puppet show in their pajamas. They can act out bedtime stories or make up their own imaginative tales.
  10. Reflections: At the end of the day, gather the children for a circle time to reflect on their favorite parts of Pajama Day. Encourage them to share what they enjoyed and why they think pajamas are cozy and fun.

Today was a wonderful opportunity for children to relax, bond with their classmates, and enjoy a break from the usual routine in a comfortable and cozy environment.
