ABC Countdown to the Last Day of School: Letter Ee is for Easter Day
Letter Ee is for Easter!
Here are ten fun and engaging ideas for our ABC Countdown: Easter Day in Kindergarten:
- Easter Egg Hunt: Organize a traditional Easter egg hunt, either indoors or outdoors, where children can search for plastic eggs filled with small treats, stickers, or toys.
- Easter Crafts: Set up craft stations where children can make Easter-themed crafts like decorating egg-shaped cutouts, creating bunny masks, or making Easter baskets using construction paper and other materials.
- Easter Storytime: Read Easter-themed books such as “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” by Beatrix Potter or “The Easter Egg” by Jan Brett. Discuss the stories and their characters with the children.
- Egg Decorating: Provide hard-boiled eggs and various decorating supplies like markers, stickers, and dye kits. Let the children decorate their own Easter eggs to take home.
- Bunny Hop Relay: Organize a bunny hop relay race where children can wear bunny ears and hop to the finish line. This is a fun way to get them moving and enjoying the holiday spirit.
- Planting Seeds: Teach children about new beginnings and growth by planting seeds in small pots. They can decorate the pots and watch their plants grow over the weeks following Easter.
- Easter Snacks: Have a snack-making session where children can create fun, Easter-themed treats like bunny-shaped sandwiches, fruit and veggie bunnies, or decorating cupcakes with pastel colors and sprinkles.
- Easter Parade: Organize a mini Easter parade where children can dress up in spring-themed outfits, bunny ears, or homemade costumes. They can march around the classroom or playground showing off their Easter spirit.
- Story of Easter: Share a simple, age-appropriate story about the meaning of Easter. Depending on your setting, you can choose to focus on the religious aspect or the cultural traditions associated with the holiday.
- Easter Games: Play Easter-themed games such as “Pin the Tail on the Bunny,” egg and spoon races, or an Easter-themed bingo. These games add a fun, competitive element to the celebration.
