My Favourite Things

Hi there! I’m Mrs. Bacchus and I want to share some of my favourite things with you.

Personal Finance

Best no fee chequing/savings account: Simplii Financial

Simplii is the digital banking division of CIBC. It used to be President’s Choice Financial. I have used it for years because there are no fees. Use my link and you can earn $50 when you open and use an eligible account with Simplii™. Conditions apply.

Best Canadian Stock TFSA: Wealthsimple

Wealthsimple is the easiest way for beginners to buy and sell stocks with no fees. I opened a TFSA so I don’t have to worry about reporting stock income on my taxes and there are no brokerage fees when you buy or sell. Use this link, and get TWO free stocks to trade. 🙌

Best High Interest Savings Account: Peoples Trust

I’ve had a TFSA with Peoples Trust for many years now and their high interest savings account has one of the highest rates available. They also have good GIC rates.

Best Tax Software: TurboTax

I have spoken to so many people who have never filed their taxes themselves. PLEASE try this FREE program online that walks you through the entire thing… for FREE. Yes, you can pay for upgraded services if you want, like having an accountant look over your return. I never have. It connects directly with the CRA so many of your forms are input automatically. It is so easy! (I get nothing from recommending them. I just hate hearing that people lose money that they could get from returns when they could do it themselves, easily, for free.)

We subscribe to Instant Ink, which means we haven’t had to buy printer ink for yeeeears. There are many subscription levels to choose from and you can easily switch from one to another. We set it to the lowest level in the spring and summer since we don’t use much. During back-to-school season we bump it up. It’s great for printing full colour, because they only count the number of pages you print. Ink gets shipped automatically when your printer senses it’s running low. Click to get 1 FREE MONTH of HP Instant Ink when you enroll.

Clothing

These are my favourite leggings (aka stretchy pants). We have a cat and his fur doesn’t stick to these. They stay in place and don’t lose their stretch.

These are my favourite pants, period. They’re comfortable and light, they dry super fast (great for travelling!) and they look great. I have them in the dark blue and the black.
