Transient Art Easter Eggs

Easter is coming up, and that means it’s time for some Easter eggs! But not just any old Easter eggs. I’m talking about transient art Easter eggs. What are those, you ask?

Transient art are works of art that are only temporary. They’re usually made out of things like chalk, paint, or even flowers, and they only last until the elements wear them away or someone accidentally destroys them.

If you want to try making some amazing transient art Easter eggs, gather up some loose parts. Loose parts can be natural – rocks, sticks, leaves, flowers – or just about anything else you can think of. If you were a fan of the show “Art Attack”, imagine making a giant art attack… but less giant.

Transient art is art that can come and go.
You make it and then disassemble it. In this video, we used loose parts to decorate an egg shape.
First, I cut out the eggs from old cereal boxes. We carefully used permanent markers to draw different types of lines on the cardboard. This is a great time to talk about lines – zigzag, wavy, curly, etc.
Then we used loose parts to decorate the egg. I love watching the care they put into placing each object where they want it to go.

This is a great art and loose parts centre for a preschool or Kindergarten classroom! If you try it with your students, take a picture and tag me @bacchusclass so I can see their awesome art!
