Weekly Planning Template for Kindergarten Teachers

weekly planning template for kindergarten

Are you a kindergarten teacher getting ready for the new school year? The kindergarten program is structured differently from other grades, which means your planning template likely needs to look different too.

This is the perfect planning template for you! It’s 2 pages long and will help keep your planning organized. You can edit it to fit your needs and make digital copies or print it out for your plan book.

One side covers the whole class and small group lessons you will teach in a week. The next page is an overview of the centres and provocations that you’ll have. I print these double sided and put them in a binder so that a full week’s plan is visible when I open the binder.

This planner is great for child-centred classrooms where plans change due to student led inquiries and interests. It includes learning goals, lessons, read alouds, and centres/provocations. Plus, since it’s editable, you can add anything else that might be helpful for yourself and your teaching partner.

What else do you include in your plan book?

  • Monthly calendars to record birthdays, reporting dates, school events, and other important dates. Keep a full set for the year so you can update them as you go. Then you can scan and send them to parents monthly.
  • Curriculum Cheat Sheet – a quick list of overall expectations that I can reference when I’m writing learning stories or anecdotal comments.
  • Parent contact recording sheet
  • Extra copies of class list checklists
  • School schedules (library, gym, supervision duty, etc.)
  • Emergency supply plans with a clearly labelled divider tab

What are your must haves in a planning template? Do you prefer long-form daily plans or a weekly planning overview?
