Think about all the times you have to laminate something. A piece of paper becomes a sturdy poster. A worksheet becomes a reusable study tool. Children’s artwork is preserved for a lifetime.

As I post this, there’s a sale on this laminator and the packs of laminating sheets too! Grab one for the most convenient lesson prep you’ve ever had! Scroll to the end for ideas of things you can laminate.

Best Budget Laminator

The price isn’t the only reason why the Amazon Basics PL9-US is a great laminator.

It’s very easy to use. It warms up in 4 minutes and has two heat settings, for 3 mil or 5 mil pouches. Use the 3 mil thickness for cardstock and the 5 mil for regular paper.

It also has a release button in case of any jams.

Most Popular Name Brand

The Scotch laminator is the biggest competitor. It has similar reviews but it costs about double the price. I personally don’t think it’s worth it.

Laminating Pouches

Here are the laminating pouches that work with any standard 9×11.5″ laminator, including the ones listed above.

Here is the link for the 100 pack.

This is the link for the pack of 200.

Best BIG Laminator

This laminator is exactly the same as the Amazon Basics Laminator above but it’s big enough to laminate 11×17″ pages. If you do a lot of projects at that size, this laminator is the best.

I just bought a laminator! What can I laminate?

My favourite way to use a laminator is to make a worksheet into a wipeable and reusable activity. Just use a whiteboard marker and a scrap of felt to erase it, or a washable marker and a damp cloth. Here are other ideas for things you can laminate to protect them and make them more durable.

  • Childhood mementos
  • Recipes
  • Homemade placemats
  • Reusable shopping lists
  • Flashcards
  • Game boards and pieces
  • Ornaments and decorations
  • Reusable tracing pages
  • Children’s artwork
  • Family calendar
  • Flowers
  • ID (always check before laminating government issued ID)
  • Travel documents (not passports)
  • Schedules
  • Photos

Happy laminating!
