Reading and Writing in Our Class
WAHOO! We reached our goal! We built up our reading stamina to 20 minutes!
(That’s me doing my happy dance.)
In our class, we use the Daily 5 language program. It is the structure that helps us fit all the pieces of the Literacy puzzle together, including:
- independent reading and writing
- shared reading and writing
- guided reading and writing
- read-alouds
- modeled writing
- word work and spelling
- grammar
It also helps us to work independently, in groups, and one-on-one with the teacher. We have learned to Read to Self and Work on Writing so far. Next up: Listen to Reading, which will help us build our reading fluency.
